We took advantage of our Hilton discount to visit the Waldorf Astoria resorts in Boca Raton, FL this weekend. They have 2 resorts, the Boca Raton Resort and Club (inland), and Boca Beach Club (on the beach). They are both very beautiful. They are also very expensive (sans discount). ***
The Resort and Club is almost historical, maintaining the original look and feel (architecture, layout) that Addison Mizner planned for it. The gardens surrounding the resort and golf course are beautiful and relaxing. And the resort itself still feels modern and comfortable, chock full of restaurants, bars, and shops. Staff is very friendly.
The Beach Club is much more modern looking, with indoor fountain, 3 pools, fancy bar, etc. There’s plenty of pool and beach chairs and umbrellas to go around. Their breakfast buffet was fantastic – complete with a facolner flying a Harris’s hawk on the balcony during breakfast.
Transportation between the 2 resorts includes, a small boat ride across the bay that runs every 20 minutes, shuttle service, and of course your package valet at any sanctioned stops.
*** I wasn’t a big fan of the mandatory $45 a night valet parking. But I must admit that it was very convenient. I suppose if I were rich, this would be an expected service.
