Posted on July 20, 2018July 19, 2021 by Joe Del Rocco

Just a few outings of us playing Pokemon Go this year. Most of these people are either on the Orlando Raids Pokemon Go Discord, or the Pokemon Go-UCF Discord, or both. Both servers are highly active in the Central Florida area.   Here’s a video of people playing around Lake Eola at night when Pokemon…

My Office Cubicle These Days

Posted on May 31, 2018July 19, 2021 by Joe Del Rocco

My cubical in the Design Lab at IST at UCF… because, as General Sherman said, PhDs are hell. I decorated it with abandoned materials found in the hall from a previous project with PEO STRI by Dr. Charlie Hughes and his SREAL Lab.

Tuba Christmas is a national annual concert originally organized by Dr. Harvey Phillips, a legendary tuba player, composer, advocate, and professor, as a tribute to his teacher, William Bell. The first Tuba Christmas concert took place at Rockefeller Center in 1974. Since then concerts have taken place all over the United States (and elsewhere), locally…

Pumpktris Project

Posted on October 31, 2017July 19, 2021 by Joe Del Rocco

This year for Halloween, a few of us attempted the popular Pumpktris instructable. Pumpktris is a version of Tetris playable in a pumpkin 🙂 Nathan Pryor (HaHaBird) created it. Here is his version in all its glory. It got a lot of interest, from other instructables to local news coverage to BoingBoing. Nathan also made…

Halloween 2017: FF WHM

Posted on October 31, 2017July 19, 2021 by Joe Del Rocco

For Halloween this year, I donned a Final Fantasy White Mage costume, one that I crafted myself. FYI a WHM looks like this. As a longtime fan of the series, and devout WHM, this was something I’ve always wanted to do. The colored water bottles are potions, and the feathers are phoenix downs.   My…

Heard Brown Bag Brass Band tonight at Tibby’s New Orleans Kitchen off Aloma. They are an informal sideline band with a rotating lineup, and they play around town at various places such as Tibby’s, Muddy Waters, Will’s, The Social, and private events like weddings, etc. They are fun and funky, and have that classic New…

Eugene Snowden

Posted on July 28, 2017January 21, 2018 by Joe Del Rocco

Just wanted to post something about Eugene Snowden, our patron saint of feel good music here in Orlando. He’s been playing in and around Central Florida for well over 20 years now, probably longer. Anyone who’s semi-knowledgeable of the Central Florida music scene, or has even gone to various local shows over the years, knows…

Sailing The Grace Bailey

Posted on July 9, 2017July 19, 2021 by Joe Del Rocco

Last week I finally sailed on a tall ship, something I’ve been yearning to do for 10 years now. My god it was fantastic!! So authentic, romantic, and exciting all at the same time, nothing compares to it. Except perhaps sailing on an even bigger, older tall ship (something I intend to do). The creaking…
