Silver Springs State Park

Posted on March 17, 2019July 19, 2021 by Joe Del Rocco

Shared a cabin with my buddy Shane at Silver Springs State Park, “gateway to Ocala National Forest.” Their cabins are sometimes hard to come by, and he found a last minute opening. It was one of the last good weather weekends of the year (for us in Florida). We didn’t do the typical glass-bottom boat tour. Instead we just enjoyed the park and the weather, biked on some trails, and hung out. They have a cool authentic looking Florida cracker village, lots of hiking/biking trails, and of course beautiful natural spring-fed rivers. We saw a pileated woodpecker, a swallow-tailed kite, and a somewhat unique squirrel with white ring around its tail.
