House 2 Remodel: Addition

Posted on December 20, 2019June 11, 2020 by Joe Del Rocco

It took a loooooooooooooooooooooong time, but we finally finished our house addition. It’s actually been “finished” for 8 months or so, but we’ve been doing some landscaping and waiting for the city to approve our new fence. We added roughly 800 sqft to our house and remodeled another 400 or so (almost entirely downstairs). Tom…

Adjustable Height Desk

Posted on October 19, 2019July 19, 2021 by Joe Del Rocco

I’ve wanted an adjustable height desk for a very long time. I was even considering building my own. Recently I happened upon one in my very own home office! It was an early Christmas present from my wife. Awwwwww 🙂 I must say, I am very impressed with it. It’s quiet, sturdy, and can be…

Vibrotactile Awareness

Posted on October 10, 2019July 19, 2021 by Joe Del Rocco

Saw a talk today at the Brown Center for Faculty Innovation and Excellence at Stetson by Assistant Professor of Voice, Chadley Ballantyne, titled What’s the Buzz? Auditory roughness and vibrotactile awareness. It was fantastic! I admit, I know very little music theory in general (and absolutely nothing about vocal theory!), but Chad’s talk was still…

My FFXIV WHM

Posted on September 1, 2019July 18, 2021 by Joe Del Rocco

— Update 07/2021: I wasn’t aware until recently of the Japanese show (Final Fantasy XIV: Dad of Light) and movie (Brave Father Online: Our Story of Final Fantasy XIV) that featured FFXIV as a plot vehicle. Pretty cool idea and very enjoyable for FFXIV fans. — As I wind down another 4 month mini-addiction of…

Diagram Radiometry

Posted on August 30, 2019July 19, 2021 by Joe Del Rocco

I needed to illustrate a radiometry concept recently, but I didn’t want to draw it manually with Adobe Illustrator or whatever. I was afraid that parts of the diagram wouldn’t look to-scale, and I was especially worried that if I had to show the diagram from multiple angles, that proportions wouldn’t line up exactly. I’m…

Terri Binion

Posted on August 14, 2019February 10, 2020 by Joe Del Rocco

I saw Terri Binion tonight at Imperial Wine Bar at Washburn Imports on North Orange. She plays folky Americana songs, and has a fantastic voice. She’s been in and Central Florida for a long time, but has also toured nationally and played with some greats. She knows what she’s doing. She handled the loud, chatty…

NCS Hall of Fame 2019

Posted on July 31, 2019May 5, 2024 by Joe Del Rocco

Volunteered at our local National Center for Simulation (NCS)’s 2019 Hall of Fame Induction. This year they inducted: Dr. Peter Hancock, Dr. Randall Shumaker, and Michael Tschanz. In previous years, they have inducted the following modsim leaders. It was refreshing to see so many people from so many industries supporting the modeling and simulation community!

Modern Wall-Mounted Trellis

Posted on June 26, 2019July 23, 2019 by Joe Del Rocco

Built a modern-looking wall-mounted trellis over a recent break. I mounted it to our outside garage wall, along the walkway to our front door. I wanted something both ornamental and natural in that space, and this is what I came up with… It took only 3 days of part time work, and most of that…

Ten10 Rock and Blues Jam

Posted on June 6, 2019August 6, 2019 by Joe Del Rocco

Mike Wallace of Ten10 Brewing Company and Jeff Matz of Lure Design host a local rock and blues jam session every Wednesday at 7pm at Ten10 Brewing on Virginia Dr. near Mills (and have been doing so for several years now). It’s very laid back and friendly. We’ve had many musicians come out, including guitarists,…
